The fiction
One discovery arc, changing physical questions
The trilogy does not ask the reader to reject established measurements. Each book moves the unresolved physical step somewhere new — into the journey of a signal, the moving receiver, or the organised matter that emits and receives electromagnetic radiation.
Novels first
These are novels, not physics textbooks.
There is not a single equation in the trilogy—not even E=mc2. The scientific questions unfold through characters, conversations, discoveries and consequences.
No knowledge of physics is required to read the books. Readers who want to examine the reasoning, sources and technical details can continue into the Physics companion.

How it grew
The first book opened a question it could not contain
Between the Beats began as a novel about a person who notices how much cosmic history is reconstructed from radiation received only after an immense journey. The question was scientific, but its consequences were personal: what happens when recognition asks for a cleaner, safer version of the thought that earned it?
The second novel moves from the journey to the receiver. If a light front propagates at one speed while a moving observer changes the rate at which it is encountered, what exactly is being transformed when distant clocks and Lorentz coordinates are added?
The third book moves inside the receiver itself. It asks whether the same electromagnetic field can be followed continuously from organised source to organised material response, and whether some of the rules used to describe emission and absorption can be reconstructed as consequences of a more explicit physical mechanism.

Cosmology, propagation and the journey of the signal
The first book explores cosmology through the light that reaches us. It asks what happens if the universe between source and telescope is treated as a physical propagation channel whose transfer properties must be understood before the received signal is used to reconstruct cosmic history.
Through Jan’s life, the question becomes inseparable from recognition, family and the institutions that decide which uncertainties are safe to publish.
Central question: Did we infer the cosmos before we understood the channel?

Propagation, encounter and the observation of light
The second book separates the propagation speed of a light front from the rate at which that front closes distance with a moving receiver. It then follows the distinction through Doppler reception, Einstein synchronization, the train argument and Lorentz transformations.
Jan’s challenge is not to deny the successful relativistic calculations. It is to ask what those calculations represent physically, and which experiments any alternative interpretation would still have to explain.

Reconstructing electromagnetic emission and reception
The third book asks whether emission, absorption and electron escape can be understood as parts of one physical field–matter mechanism. It begins with electromagnetic fields acting on charge, moves from one electron to organised molecular-scale many-electron matter, and keeps the measured quantum laws as obligations any alternative must reproduce.
The strongest Titraj geometry — a constrained local-c microscopic path — enters separately as a conjecture rather than being required by the broader receiver picture.
Central question: Can a physical mechanism be rebuilt beneath the formalism?
